In this role, Mr. Feldman is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the Los Angeles-based organization's worldwide activities, as well as its representatives in Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America. Before joining NATPE, Mr. Feldman was executive vice president and chief operating officer of USA Broadcasting in Los Angeles. While there, he was responsible for overseeing a group of four stations throughout the United States, including WAMI-TV/Miami. During his tenure at USA, Mr. Feldman launched independent stations in such major markets as Dallas, Atlanta and Boston on behalf of the company. Moreover, he supervised USA's "Stationworks," its centralized, digital distribution facility in Los Angeles designed to function as master control for the entire station group. He also managed USA's WAMI-based "Group Promo" department, which served as the promotion production facility for all of its stations. Prior to USA, Mr. Feldman served 16 years at KCOP-TV/Los Angeles. He first joined KCOP in 1983 as general sales manager and in 1987 he was promoted to vice president and station manager. He became president and general manager of KCOP in 1993. Under Mr. Feldman's direction, KCOP developed the moniker "Very Independent" and the station was recognized as a market leader with such live local events as the Los Angeles Marathon and "Live from the Hollywood Bowl." KCOP earned more than 30 Emmy Awards for its locally-produced programming under Mr. Feldman's guidance. Before KCOP, Mr. Feldman served as vice president and sales manager with Metromedia in New York and was a promotion manager for WJZ-TV/Baltimore. He began his career as a media buyer at Ted Bates Advertising in New York. Mr. Feldman earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University. In April 2003, Rick Feldman was named president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE). NATPE is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to the creation, development and distribution of televised programming in all forms, across all platforms. NATPE develops and nurtures opportunities for the buying, selling and sharing of content and ideas. In addition, NATPE plays a major role in building a bridge between the television arena and the academic community to educate students and their teachers of the dynamic industry with a wide array of services, outreach programs and events through the NATPE Educational Foundation.
