The 33rd Annual Gracie Awards
The Foundation of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) is inviting entries for the 33rd Annual Gracie Awards. The Gracies is the most prestigious industry award that recognizes exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women, as well as outstanding achievement by individuals.
The 33rd Annual Gracie Awards will continue the tradition of recognizing programming and individuals of the highest caliber in all facets of radio, television, cable and new media, including news, drama, comedy, commercials, public service, documentary and sports. The entry deadline is January 4, 2008.
Mary Bennett, 2007 AWRT National Chair and Radio Advertising Bureau EVP/National Marketing, stated, "The Gracies statue embodies much more than industry recognition. It characterizes distinction, and acknowledges the exceptional accomplishments of amazing women.Â
AWRT President Maria Efantis Brennan added, ÂThe Gracies represent the power of women in media and the journey they have traveled. The 2008 Gracies will build on previous successes and prove to be a wonderful celebration of women in all areas of electronic media.Â
Last yearÂs national Gracie Awards program recognized national individual achievement award winners such as Ann Curry, NBC News; Kimberly Dozier, CBS News; Tina Fey, NBCÂs 30 Rock; Soledad OÂBrien, CNN; and programming such as ABC News 20/20; CNBCÂs The Suze Orman Show; Harpo RadioÂs Jean Chatzky Show; HBOÂs Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired; Lifetime TelevisionÂs Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, and many more, representing a broad cross-section of outstanding actors, producers, writers, correspondents and programs.
To qualify for entry, programs must have aired for the first time between December 1, 2006 and November 30, 2007. National Award winners will be honored at the star-studded Gracie Awards Gala, to be held on May 28, 2008 at the New York Marriott Marquis. Local markets, public and student award winners will be honored at the Awards Luncheon of the Gracie Awards, which will be held on May 29, 2008 at the Tavern on the Green, New York, NY.
