Brian Seth Hurst is CEO of The Opportunity Management Company, a firm dedicated to assisting networks, studios and producers in defining and maximizing the opportunities brought by technologies changing the way audiences receive, share and interact with content. TOMC’s work maintains the integrity of broadcast programming and brands while increasing audience access and involvement across a variety of platforms including broadband, interactive television, games, mobile, social networks and personalized media. Clients have included NBC Universal, Showtime, Lifetime, TV Guide, TiVo and AOL amongst others. Currently, Hurst is at work on Tim Kring’s (Heroes) next project codenamed: Teva.
Hurst served 3 terms on the Board of the PGA and two terms as Chairman of their New Media Council. Recipient of an Interactive TV Today [itvt] Award for Leadership in Interactive Television, Hurst was profiled in Emmy® Magazine as one of 10 media executives leading the industry’s digital drive, and named two years running to the Hollywood Reporter/PGA Digital 50. He also served two terms on the Television Academy’s Board representing Interactive Media. Recently he was appointed Global Digital Ambassador for the International TV Academy and completed his term as Second Vice Chair of the Television Academy.
A respected authority on the subject of emerging entertainment, Hurst has authored articles for leading trade publications and is a regular panelist and keynote speaker at leading conferences including NATPE, NAB, CES, Digital Hollywood, and MIPTV. He also has addressed private broadcaster gatherings in South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and the UK briefing them as to trends in new technologies, alternative distribution and audience behavior.
