To assist you in making the most of your NATPE Conference & Exhibition experience, we have compiled some helpful tips and advice that even the most seasoned television executive will find useful.

Plan Ahead

Familiarize yourself with the Conference Agenda, Speakers, Exhibitors, Exhibitor Floorplan and Attendees as far in advance of the Conference as possible. Select the sessions you wish to attend and plot them in your calendar. Then make a list of the people and companies participating in the Conference & Exhibition that you want to meet with while in Las Vegas.

Using the NATPE Directory, compile contact details for these companies and individuals. Then begin contacting them to request appointments in Las Vegas.

Be sure to schedule enough time to travel between Session Rooms and Floor Exhibits in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and the hospitality suites in THEhotel. Download a map of the property so you can see where everything is. Although everything is under one roof, the distance between the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and THEhotel is a substantial walk. We suggest planning your meetings with Floor Exhibitors (all in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center) on the same day and reserve another day for visiting Hospitality Suites (all at THEhotel).

Also review the Attendees FAQs which will help answer the most common questions Conference attendees have.

As time gets nearer to the actual Conference & Exhibition, be sure to visit the Exhibition Floor Plan to familiarize yourself with the layout of the NATPE Exhibit Floor.

Book Once, Confirm Twice

While we have complete faith in our service bureau’s ability to get it right, it never hurts to check. Once you have made your Hotel Reservation, you will receive an email or fax confirmation. If you don’t receive a confirmation, please contact the housing service. Then, a week or two before the Conference, call and confirm it again. If you have a change in travel plans, or get delayed anywhere along the route, call your hotel to advise them of the change in your arrival time. Same thing goes for Airline Reservations, Car Rental Reservations, and other travel services.

Don’t Leave Home Without…

Make a checklist of all of the items you’ll need while at the NATPE Conference & Exhibition – cell phone, charger, laptop with appropriate cables and connectors, local access numbers for email (if appropriate), business cards, schedule, airline tickets, hotel confirmation, et cetera – and physically check them off as you load them into your carry-on bag. Nothing spells disaster like a forgotten cell phone charger or an empty business card holder!

Weather Permitting

Las Vegas weather is usually mild in January, with temperatures averaging in the high 50s to low 60s during the day and cooling off to the mid-30s at night (Farenheit), and with January averaging only half an inch of rain for the entire month, you’re safe leaving your umbrella and heavy jackets at home. Do bring comfortable walking shoes, however, as you’ll be standing and walking quite a bit even if you never leave the Mandalay Bay Hotel Resort and Convention Center.
