After a very short calm post-NATPE 2008, our offices are buzzing again with the excitement of our summer event, the LATV Festival, just a few short months ahead.

Here is some background on what has now become the LATV Festival. In the summer of 2003 we launched a new event in Los Angeles which was originally centered on professional development and networking for TV producers. What was formerly known as the TV Producers’ Boot Camp was expanded to a three-day event beginning in summer 2007 and became the LATV Festival.

The 2008 LATV Fest, which is comprised of the Digital Day, Content Industry Forum and Pitch Pit will be held July 30-August 1 at a number of locations in Hollywood. Activities include sessions, workshops, master classes, networking events, screenings, cocktail receptions and much more. Our website is almost ready and registration will be open in a few days, but you can still take a peak at www.LATVFest.net.

Our objective in launching this event is to develop a city-wide, world renown festival showcasing the work of Los Angeles’ outstanding TV producers and production community, including locations, studios, networks, and a consortium of organizations that comprise the thriving LA TV scene. We believe the LATV Fest provides an opportunity to recognize the City’s significant contributions to the art and commerce of video content.

There is no doubt that television production is one of Los Angeles’ economic engines. The industry creates jobs and pays a high wage to Los Angeles residents. We believe that Los Angeles should receive the exposure it deserves as the “TV production capital of the world.” This event promotes the city’s production capabilities, the unlimited resources available to producers of TV programming and the local and multinational corporations who provide the world with TV programs.

I look forward to seeing you at the LATV Festival.

Regards,

Rick

NATPE ’08 is just a few days away and the excitement here at the NATPE offices is palpable. Outside, the writers’ strike has added even more uncertainty to our already constantly changing business which also makes NATPE even more important this year. The fact that our Exhibit Floor sold out 3 weeks prior to the show is a sure tell sign of this. Don’t worry – if you want to exhibit we still have a limited number of tables in the NATPE Greenlight Lounge available. Get full details online.

NATPE is a B to B content marketplace and conference for TV/video professionals. We are proud of 45 years of brand equity as an organized and focused environment for global TV content creators, distributors, buyers and advertisers to get together under one roof in the U.S. to do business.

With 350+ exhibitors, 1,000+ producers and 1,500+ content buyers as well as people in the expanding and developing world of online video syndication, NATPE ’08 is THE global multiplatform video content marketplace. We continue to believe that there is no other venue in the U.S. where cable, broadcast, online and mobile TV/video content buyers and sellers can have a better collective experience than at our “show.”

In addition to the exhibition portion of NATPE ’08, the conference portion has four days with an incredible slate of 250+ sessions, panels and keynote speakers who have all the information you’ll need to bring your business to the next level.

Happy New Year and I’ll see you in Vegas.

Regards, Rick
