NATPE ANNOUNCES PHIL KENT OF TURNER BROADCASTING SYSTEM, INC. AS 2012 MARKETPLACE KEYNOTE SPEAKER
LOS ANGELES, November 14, 2011 – Phil Kent, Chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., will be the opening morning keynote speaker at NATPE||Content First, the premier U.S.-based marketplace for buyers and sellers, announced NATPE President & CEO Rick Feldman. NATPE will take place in Miami Beach from January 23 to 25 at the Fontainebleau Resort, bringing together industry professionals from around the world to conduct business, identify new opportunities and discuss new models for the future.

Phil Kent oversees a wide-ranging portfolio of domestic and international news, entertainment and animation, young adult and kids networks and businesses including CNN/U.S., CNN International, CNN.com and HLN; TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies and truTV; Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim; and Turner Sports. He is former president and chief operating officer of CNN News Group and president of Turner Broadcasting System International (TBSI), he led a strategy to introduce local-language versions of CNN and the Turner entertainment networks around the world, further strengthening the company’s position in critical international markets. Globally, Turner Broadcasting operates more than 130 channels in some 30 languages in more than 200 countries.
Kent joined Turner Broadcasting in 1993 as president of Turner Home Entertainment after working with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) as a television packaging agent, and helping to launch Blair Entertainment, the television syndication division of John Blair & Co. He serves on the board of directors of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association; is a member of the Dean’s executive board of UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film & Television; and is a member of the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame.
