DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND EXHIBITOR SERVICES


LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28, 2012 – NATPE||Content First has promoted Pamela Silverman to Director of Operations and Exhibitor Services.

In her new role, Silverman will be responsible for both sales duties and operations for all NATPE events. She joined NATPE full-time in 2005 and most recently served as Manager of Operations and Event Services. Prior to that, she was NATPE’s Administrator for Conference Operations & Sales.

“Throughout her career at NATPE, Pamela has embodied the ethos of putting our clients first,” said Wayneston Harbeson, NATPE’s Vice President of Operations. “Her attention to detail, her focus on customer service and her ability to solve problems and get things done have made her invaluable to our team. We look forward to having her experience in this new role.”

A native of Southern California, Silverman has a degree in Theatre from UCLA and began her post-college career as an actress. She spent a number of years as a Communications Coordinator for a large, Los Angeles law firm and more recently, branched out into the world of voice-over.

Room Reservations Pacing Ahead of Last Year as All Major Domestic Studios Commit to Attend NATPE 2013 Jan. 28-30 at Miami’s Fontainebleau Resort

LOS ANGELES, September 18, 2012 – Recently appointed NATPE||Content First President-CEO Rod Perth today announced preliminary numbers for room reservations at the market and conference are pacing ahead of last year. The increase comes as all of the major domestic distributors have committed to attend the 2013 NATPE Market and Conference Jan. 28-30 at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami, marking its 50th anniversary with a forward-looking agenda built around the theme of moving “Beyond Disruption.”

Mr. Perth noted each of the major studios will be joined at NATPE 2013 by a long list of prominent independent distributors, producers, networks and program representation firms covering all platforms, including Debmar-Mercury/Lionsgate, Banijay, Electus, CableReady, Content Media Corp., FremantleMedia, Globo TV, Hasbro Studios, Lionsgate International, MGM Worldwide Television, Televisa, Univision and Venevision, to name a few.

This year’s NATPE theme, “Beyond Disruption,” describes how content, advertising and technology are now interdependent ecosystems that are encouraging reinvention of tomorrow’s business models.

Over the past half century, NATPE has transitioned from a domestic syndication program selling forum into a global, multi-platform content market and conference. In that time, it has played an integral role in the success of some of the greatest and longest-running shows in television history.

“We’re grateful to provide all who attend the chance to celebrate NATPE’s important role in the history of the television business, as well as to be able to take a thoughtful, reflective, service-oriented approach to exploring the many exciting opportunities and serious challenges that lie ahead,” said Mr. Perth, who took the reins of NATPE in May.  "Our objective is to encourage a sense of optimism and reason to the conversation. With the 50th Anniversary celebration providing the perfect opportunity to honor the early foundations of the industry and map out its future, we look forward to a fantastic market and conference in January.”

In addition, Mr. Perth announced NATPE’s 10th Annual Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award honorees will include Steve Levitan, creator of ABC’s hit comedy series Modern Family; John Langley, the "Godfather of Reality Television" as creator/executive producer of COPS; and Debra Lee, CEO of BET, the leading TV network aimed at African-American audiences, which currently reaches more than 90 million households worldwide.

Named in honor of Brandon Tartikoff, arguably one of television’s greatest programmers, the award was created to recognize a select group of television professionals exhibiting extraordinary passion, leadership, independence and vision in the process of creating television programming. The Legacy Award ceremony will be presented during a special reception in Miami.

NATPE will explore the Beyond Disruption theme in a new conference format encompassing panel discussions, thought-provoking one-on-one conversations and individual 20-minute presentations that take a close look at disruption and, more importantly, what comes next. Highlights include:

  • “Game Changers” – Spotlighting leaders from some of the world’s top companies that have continually challenged mainstream thinking, moving beyond traditional business models and seeking innovative partnerships to find the intersection of disruption and opportunity.
  • Masters of Messaging – Featuring top brand executives, production companies, studios and ad solution providers.
  • “Storytellers That Shape Pop Culture” – Pairing television’s top icons and creators in a “Chat with…” format.
  • Technologies That Fuel Multi-Platform Content – Examining the explosion of video and broadcast capabilities across all screens.
  • “Visionaries” – Viewing the media world through the eyes of innovators, content creators, advertisers, technology experts, research analysts and entertainers who will deliver ten 20-minute presentations
  • Global Navigators – Focusing on international content and programming including international channels, formats, global production solutions and cross‑cultural brand strategies.

CEE REGION LOOKS FOR INTERNATIONAL CONTENT IN BUDAPEST

Budapest, 28th June 2012 -- Premier media marketplace organizer NATPE has confirmed that more than 430 buyers and over 200 selling companies attended the inaugural NATPE Budapest event which concluded today in the Hungarian capital.

Content distributors both large and small from all over the world attended the three day event including delegations from South Korea, Audio Visual Spain and TV France International as well as all the major Hollywood Studios.  First time exhibitors from India and Russia were also present.

NATPE's new President & CEO Rod Perth commented, "It has been my pleasure to meet representatives of so many international companies doing business here in Budapest.  With the number of new productions being reduced because of lower budgets and the continued proliferation of digital and online platforms,  high quality programming of all types is becoming even more sought after throughout the CEE region and beyond.   By listening to delegates here this week, my aim is to continue to make this very relevant and unique market even more valuable to all attendees in the coming years."

The 50th anniversary of NATPE will take place 28-30 January 2013 in Miami.  The dates for the next NATPE Budapest are 25-27 June 2013.
